The essential function of HR is shifting, much like the employer/employee power dynamic, from protecting the business to engaging the employee. HR is no longer limited to recruitment and selection, posting job ads, evaluating the performance of employees, and mundane administrative tasks. Instead, HR departments and teams are able to focus on the humans who power their organization,  talent development, and retention. HR’s role has expanded, and will continue to evolve, along with our understanding of human capital, data, and the driving forces behind a successful business.

Today, an effective HR function is much more complex, necessitating integration into and alignment with organizational strategy. The responsibilities of HR are wide ranging — and ever expanding:

  • promote employee engagement

  • forecast internal labor demands

  • develop and implement policies and procedures for the entire employee life cycle

  • develop and implement diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA) practices

  • utilize data (if possible) for predictive people analytics

Although the scope of HR duties are growing, budgets are continually shrinking. It should be no surprise that HR professionals, or those tasked with its duties, are struggling to keep pace with employee/employer needs in the ever-changing workplace. And we are here to help.

The Rise Journey was founded with the ethos that all organizations deserve equitable HR and DEI practices that empower workplace culture – even if they are small businesses, have lean HR teams, or have limited resources. To achieve our mission of providing high-value, metrics-driven support to facilitate positive organizational change, The Rise Journey is rolling out a program specifically tailored to the solo practitioners and small HR teams based on inclusion and social impact. OPHR stands for One Person Human Resources and is designed for those that need economical thought partnership, predictive analytics, clear and actionable roadmaps, and strategic support.

Whether you are a department of one, the increasingly common department of few for many, or even an office manager tasked to fill the role of HR, we are here to help you shoulder these responsibilities regardless of your current resources.

Employees aren’t “resources” to commoditize and exploit, they are people, and deserve to be treated as such. That includes you! Let us take something off your plate, give you a toolbox to supplement your skill set, and make your job easier while amplifying your impact.

As we work towards the full release of OPHR and all of its resources, please take advantage of “The People Calendar”, the first installment of what’s to come from our OPHR program. The free calendar features important dates and meaningful observances to help stay ahead and empower a workplace where all employees feel they belong. As the OPHR program develops, the calendar will evolve (via automatic updates!) to include brief video clips, readings and other resources that feature advice from subject matter experts in order to help foster culture conversations within your workplace.
